Learning Resource Review: HBR Ascend

I came across this resourceful website by Harvard Business Review called HBR Ascend. So I am sharing it here as part of our daily learning initiative.

They have articles and videos curated under 6 major topics that they feel are most relevant to the Indian corporate professional.

The site describes itself as: "HBR Ascend will help bridge the gap between your ambition and jobs you undertake to fulfill that ambition. It offers clear, practical advice centered around skills most critical to your success such as Managing Your Career, Communicating, Thinking Like a Leader, etc. Under each skill, you will find thoughtfully curated articles, tools, and videos that have been contextualized to address the unique needs of Indian users."

I love their approach of focusing on the most relevant soft skills in the Indian Context like People Management and Communication and sticking to just 6 of them. All the content is sub-categorized under these 6 Essential Skills. It helps to search for the right guidance in the area you want to work on and much of the content is directly applicable.

While going through the articles I did realize that some of them are still most relevant to the western corporate environment, and most of the content is fed from the main HBR database. There is certainly no harm in trying them in India given you handle the situations well.

At the same time, it will help them if they can start curating content from Indian authors or maybe edit the original articles and contextualize them.
