Our personal hygiene and grooming is an important factor in creating the right impressions. As our skills and knowledge convey our ability to perform the task, our personal hygiene conveys good habits.

Grooming oneself and maintaining hygiene help us convey to others that we are well mannered and professional when turning up at work or business meetings.

After the onset of pandemics like coronavirus, people may also perceive one's lack of personal hygiene as disregard to social responsibility as well.

Here are 7 Tips on personal hygiene that are good practice:

1. Body odor

It is natural for us to have body odor, however, it certainly is not tolerable by others.
Always carry a deodorant or perfume in your bag or keep 1 in your office drawer. In summers, talcum powder is a good option to help absorb sweat and keep the body cool.

2. Facial grooming

Trim the beard and keep it in shape. If you shave then do it regularly, and don’t keep a 2-3 days unshaven look.

Bonus tip – in a new job, don’t change your look from the day of the interview until the next 1 year at work. This will ensure people perceive you as consistent, reliable, and familiar.

3. Hair

Like the beard, the idea is to maintain it and keep it trimmed. Prefer a hairstyle that suits you and yet looks professional. Go to the same barber every time as they understand how your hair grows and shapes with each cut.

4. Oral hygiene

Brush your teeth, floss, and clean your tongue twice a day as the doctors recommend, once before bed and once in the morning. After a meal, you can either rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash. Carry a mouth freshener when going to important meetings, especially if you are a smoker.

5. Smelly socks

The best way is to wear fresh clean socks each day and keep your shoes clean. You may not be taking off your shoes often, however, the day you do, be sure that it will not spoil your impression. An added advantage of wearing clean socks every day is that you will feel energetic. It does make a difference.

6. Nails and hands

Trim and cut your nails regularly. Remember to wash your hands whenever necessary including times when – you reach the office via public transport, before a meal, after a meal, and after every washroom use.

7. Farting

Holding a fart is not suggested by doctors, and thus you would need to excuse yourself to the washroom when you feel the air building up.

Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached. ~ Swami Vivekananda Goal setting is THE process of converting your dreams into reality! Goals help you move towards your ideal future and keep your motivation high in ensuring you achieve everything you desire. Goals can help you determine where and how you must invest your time. Personally as well we set goals many times, especially around the New Year - the untamed New Year Resolutions.
